Kelly McKain
Author Visits
I am often available to visit schools, libraries, festivals and holiday clubs. A typical 'author visit' session includes:
- A short talk about writing (e.g. how ideas become stories, how books are made).
- A few words about my life as a writer (e.g. typical day, current projects).
- A lively reading with some participation from the children.
- A question and answer session.
- (If you wish) a chance to buy books and have them signed.
Writing Workshops
I enjoy facilitating writing workshops (I have experience as a class teacher, an English degree and an MA in Writing for Children) and can lead sessions for children from age 5 up to teens, and for adults. I am always happy to combine author visits with workshops for school settings, and can also offer extras such as lunchtime readings or special workshop sessions for keen young readers and writers.
Additional Activities
For non-school venues, I am happy to lead additional activities (e.g. mermaid jewellery and pirate map making, making friendship bracelets, creating fashion designs etc) to create a longer, more interactive session.
My author visits and writing workshops are individually tailored to suit your requirements, so please contact me for further details on kelly@kellymckain.co.uk
