Visits & Events

I love school visits!

I absolutely love coming to visit schools and usually offer one-hour (ish, adapted to fit your timetable) interactive talks to whole year groups of Year 7 and 8 girls, focussed around my new series, Rainbow Beauty, and best-selling series Totally Lucy. The talk includes the lowdown on life as an author, how a book is made from first idea to cover design and how to get writing, plus Q&A and a book signing. Depending on group size, I also take the girls through quick and easy ways to create their own characters and find stories. I am happy to add writing workshops to the visit (for one or two classes at a time), and lunch time/special sessions for keen writers or your reading group.

I love festivals and events too!

I’m also delighted to take part in festivals and events, either with my one hour (ish, adapted to suit your needs) talk and signing, or as part of an author panel, group appearance or interactive session. I have participated in the Edinburgh, Cheltenham and Bath festivals and very much enjoyed them, and in the Surrey Libraries Festival of Reading. I am based in Haslemere (Surrey/Sussex/Hampshire border) so am also very keen to be part of more local book festivals and events too.

Please contact me at to find out about availability, cost and to ask any questions. Don’t be shy! I’m very friendly and flexible, and can sometimes pair schools in the same area together so that travel cost can be shared. A one-hour visit focussed on my new series, as described above, may even be free, depending on where you are and if I can add other schools, so please do get in touch and we can discuss this further

Comments from my visits

...The girls loved every minute of it. They really engaged with the whole session and learnt some great tips about creative writing and what life as an author is really like! Kelly’s humour and ability to communicate with her audience on their level was inspirational...
